Market Development Specialist, Ghana

SSG is recruiting for a Market Development Specialist for an approximate one (1)-year position on a USAID-funded activity in Ghana for the ongoing USAID/Ghana Sustainable Fisheries Management Project (SFMP), led by the University of Rhode Island Coastal Resources Center (CRC) (www.crc.uri.edu) and in partnership with SNV (www.snv.org). The position is primarily focused on developing and implementing interventions for business planning, market development, and financing for improved cook stoves and women-owned fish processing businesses. SFMP is a five (5)-year project (October 2014-October 2019) to rebuild marine fisheries stocks and catches through adoption of responsible fishing practices. Working closely with the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and the Fisheries Commission, SFMP aims to end overfishing of key stocks that are important to local food security through: Improved legal enabling conditions for co-management, use rights and effort-reduction strategies Strengthened information systems and science-informed decision-making Increased constituencies that provide the political and public support needed to rebuild fish stocks Implementation of applied management initiatives for several targeted fisheries ecosystems. The Market Development Specialist position could potentially be full-time or on a consulting basis, pending negotiations with preferred candidates. The position will be based in Accra, Ghana.

Private Sector Engagement Specialist, Southern Africa

We are seeking a Private Sector Engagement Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded conservation and water resource management project in Southern Africa. Based in South Africa, the anticipated 5-year project will focus on improving water resource management and access to safe drinking water and sanitation services, as well as strengthening community resilience and conserving biodiversity in Southern Africa. The Private Sector Engagement Specialist will lead the development of public-private partnership initiatives for this project – exploring, implementing, and advocating for opportunities to engage the private sector, public sector, and community groups in innovative, shared value partnerships to advance project goals. S/he will provide technical expertise on public-private partnership development, including strategies for outreach to the private sector. S/he will also represent SSG on public-private sector issues at technical, policy and strategic planning meetings, including meetings with collaborators and donors.

Project Operations Manager

SSG Advisors is seeking a Project Operations Manager, to be based in our Burlington, VT, or Washington, DC, office. As a member of SSG’s Project Operations team, the Project Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting the implementation of SSG’s projects throughout the project life cycle. S/he provides guidance and practical support to the project management units on all matters related to project financial management, operations, contract and subcontract management, and compliance. S/he also supports the implementation of SSG’s business development strategy by participating in the proposal development process in a variety of roles. The Project Operations Manager works in close collaboration with SSG’s project staff and other departments within the company, and reports to the Director, Project Operations.

Private Sector Engagement Specialist, Thailand Counter Trafficking In Persons (CTiP) Project

SSG Advisors seeks candidates for a Private Sector Engagement Specialist (PSES) for a  multi-year USAID-funded project to counter human trafficking. The PSES will lead efforts to identify and develop sustainable, impactful private sector partnerships in  Thailand to reduce the prevalence of trafficking in persons. The vision of success for this  position is that, through private sector engagement and partnership development, the PSES will help reduce the demand for, and use of, exploitative labor among recruiters,  businesses, and employers in Thailand.
